This year this festival lies on 23rd of November, the day of Kartik Poornamashi according to Hindu Lunar calendar. Though the celebration would begin on November 22 around 12:53 pm because it is an auspicious time for the festival and shall continue till November 24.

Gurudwaras read Akhand Path which is a non-stop reading of Guru Granth Sahib for 48 hours straight which starts two-days prior to the festival. Holy prayers are sung, and devotees eat and also organize langars for people.
